Daily Devotionals
Each morning when you read your emails, you could include a devotional from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. This daily devotional is called, “
God’s Pause.” Yes, there are those days when you think you are too busy but try to “Pause” to spend some time with your Lord before beginning the rest of your daily tasks. This is a great method of delivery for a daily devotional. It is right there in front of you and for those of us who use our computers everyday, could it be any more convenient? It's not an hour, or even five minutes, it is a pause in the day to connect with God. To receive this email, log onto
www.luthersem.edu and go to “resources for you” on the top pull-down bar.
The weekly Bible Study provided by the ELCA called “
Daily Discipleship.” These studies are also based on the upcoming texts and really help to prepare one’s mind and heart for worship. Here at Holy Cross, we send it to about 200 households each week, but you can also look it up yourself on the ELCA website (
see link below). Contact Beth Dorsey (
bethd@holycrosslutheran.org) in the office if you would like the Bible Study sent to you each week.
Have you looked at the
ELCA Website lately? You will find a lot of fascinating information about our church and the faith we share. Our ELCA website helps to give a picture of ministries throughout the world but also information about what Lutherans believe. There is a whole section about questions. For example, “What is the difference between ELCA and Missouri Lutherans?” “What do we believe about angels?” Check it out at
http://www.elca.org/What-We-Believe/New-or-Returning-to-Church.aspx/.
Bible on Line I also make regular use of the NRSV translation of the Bible at
http://bible.oremus.org. If you are interested in searching the Bible in other Biblical translations, check out these sites:
www.crosswalk.com and
www.biblegateway.com. These sites also offer additional Bible resources and help as well as offering the Bible in different languages.
