Pastoral Transition Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

As Holy Cross enters this period of transition, here is what you may want to know.

What will Pastor Meredith do next?

Pastor Meredith with continue doing ministry here until she departs.  We will also celebrate her ministry among us so that she can leave well.

What about Pastor Andy?

Pastor Andy will continue to be pastor and accompany Holy Cross moving forward through the transition and beyond. (He is not going anywhere.)

Who is leading this process of transition?

Ultimately the Holy Spirit is leading this process, but Pastor Meredith and Pastor Andy have been in touch with bishop Paul and our synod staff who will accompany Holy Cross during this transition.

What happens after Pastor Meredith leaves?

A transition pastor will come on board to be pastor among us.

What does a transition pastor do?

  • The transition pastor will help lead the conversations about what is next for Holy Cross.
  • They will also put together a transition team to help define the core mission and identity of who Holy Cross understands itself to be and are called to be.
  • They will lead discussions with the transition team about what we are seeking in our next pastor.

What is the timeline for the transition?

God only knows.  That is to say, the Holy Spirit is in charge and we will do our due diligence to see God at work through this process. Transitional ministry is a chapter in the life of the church not a pause in the church’s ministry.

We invite your prayers for Pastor Meredith in her next steps and all that is to come with the new life of retirement.  We invite you to pray for Holy Cross and the life of the church.  We invite your prayers for our staff and leadership as they help guide the congregation through wisdom and discernment.

God’s got this!
